Work and communicate with others

Peter Dorthe (VPPL, ETH Zurich) will explore the crucial role of effective communication in work environments. He will cover strategies for collaborating with colleagues across different roles (e.g. peers, supervisors, support staff), whether in one-on-one interactions or group settings. This workshop will combine theoretical insights with practical exercises designed to enhance your collaborative skills.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • Communicating effectively with individuals in professional contexts
  • Navigating group communications, such as team meetings
  • Formulating and delivering critical messages

In preparation, please complete ETH’s online mindfulness program. A SharePoint link will be provided to you before the workshop.

In this workshop held by Eva Gottschewski (VPPL ETH Zurich) you will learn how to deal with conflicts in a constructive way and how to de-?escalate them at an early stage and without external help.
The workshop will focus on:

  • Taking personal responsibility for the resolution of conflicts
  • Subjectivity / different points of view
  • Finding solutions
  • Not being afraid of emotions
  • Knowing and expressing your own needs
  • Getting to know the needs of the other side (by asking questions and listening).

Please note: this will be an interactive workshop with theoretical inputs and group discussions during which active participation is requested.
